Chennai to Yercaud by caravan
Yercaud is the weekend hill station — close enough to leave Friday night and be among coffee estates by Saturday breakfast, with the gentlest ghat climb in Tamil Nadu. It's the trip we recommend to families taking their first caravan holiday.
How it works
The run is simple: a smooth highway cruise to Salem — dinner at the caravan's table, kids asleep in the berths — then twenty gentle hairpins up to Yercaud the next morning. The climb takes under an hour and our chauffeurs do it routinely.
Up top, the caravan parks at a caravan-safe estate stay and becomes your cottage: bedroom, hot shower, kitchen. Yercaud Lake, Lady's Seat, the pagoda viewpoint and coffee-estate walks fill a slow weekend without ever feeling rushed.
Two days is enough; three is luxurious. The 6-seater suits families staying overnight; couples doing a long single day sometimes take the 4-seater and skip the halt.

Can we do Yercaud as a single-day caravan trip from Chennai?
It's a long day — roughly 14 hours door to door — but couples and small groups do it in the 4-seater. With kids or grandparents, take the 6-seater and stay the night; the bedroom changes everything.
